How the Tool Works?

1. Image Upload: Click the "Choose file" button to select your digital X-ray file. The image will load into the workspace, ready for manual analysis.

2. Calibration (Mandatory): Select the 📏 Calibrate tool. Click the start point and end point of the 10mm reference ruler on your X-ray. This calibrates the pixels to millimeters for accurate measuring.

3. Smart Tracing: Select the 🖊️ Curvature tool. Click points along an anatomical structure (like the soft tissue profile). Double-click to finish, and the tool will automatically create a smooth, curved line.

4. Annotate Landmarks: Use the 💬 Annotate tool. Click on a specific point (e.g., Point A), type your label in the popup, and it will be permanently marked on the canvas.

5. Measurements:
Linear: Click Start point -> Click End point to measure distance in mm.
Angle: Click 3 points (Point 1 -> Vertex/Center -> Point 2) to calculate the angle degrees.

6. Print: Click the ⎙ Print button to instantly download a high-quality PDF image of your X-ray with all tracings, measurements.

Desktop Controls: Right Click (hold): Pan Image | Mouse Wheel: Zoom In/Out.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between U-Ceph and the Dental Orb Free Cephalometric Analysis Tool?

The Dental Orb Free Cephalometric Analysis Tool (ceph.dentalorb.com) is designed for structured, standardized orthodontic analyses (like Steiner’s, Tweed’s, Downs’, etc.) where the system calculates values and compares them against norms. U-Ceph, on the other hand, is a live ceph drawing tool. We don't perform automated analysis here; instead, it empowers you to manually trace the Ceph, mark specific annotations, and perform only the specific linear and angular measurements you require, acting like a digital caliper and protractor.

Is my patient data private?

Yes, absolutely. U-Ceph uses "Client-Side" technology. This means your X-ray image is processed directly in your browser's memory and is never uploaded to our servers. Your patient data remains on your device at all times.

Do I need to install any software?

No. U-Ceph is a fully web-based tool. It works instantly on any device with a modern web browser, including desktop computers, laptops, iPads, and Android tablets.

Why do I need to Calibrate first?

Digital X-rays come in various resolutions. Without calibration, the tool only knows "pixels," not "millimeters." By marking a known 10mm distance on the X-ray ruler, you tell the tool how to translate pixels into real-world measurements, ensuring your diagnosis is accurate.

Can I save the traced image?

Yes. Once you have finished your tracing, measurements, and annotations, simply click the "Save" button. The tool will generate a high-quality PNG image with all your markings and the Dental Orb logo, ready to be added to your patient records.

Does the Curvature tool work on Mobile?

The Curvature (Pen) tool is optimized for mouse input on desktops to ensure precision. On mobile devices, we recommend focusing on the Linear and Angular measurement tools for quick chairside diagnostics.
